Jeff Matthews became the Principal of St. Cecilia Catholic School in 2017. Jeff has over 20 years of teaching and education experience prior to joining St. Cecilia. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education Math / Spanish from West Virginia University, and a Masters Degree in International Education from Framingham State University. With over 20 years of experience in education, Jeff is a passionate advocate for student-centered approach to teaching and learning, developing caring communities of learners, and creating the schools our children deserve.
Mrs. Mejia joined St. Cecilia Catholic School in 2019. Prior to joining St. Cecilia, she had 26 years of experience in education. In addition to being the school’s new Learning Specialist she also helps with Bridges for 2nd Grade. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology / Special Education from Marist College. Melissa is excited to be a part of St. Cecilia Catholic School after working in public schools for 26 years.
Charlie was introduced to early childhood education through a program in high school. He has enjoyed having worked both preschool and school aged children while during his 15 year tenure at Créme de la Créme.
Mrs. Monroe has been part of the St. Cecilia Catholic School community since 2019. She is excited to return to teaching this school year at St. Cecilia Catholic School and teach children about God’s love. Daniela has a third grader and a first grader that attend the school. She has seven years of previous teaching experience. Mrs. Monroe holds a Bachelor’s degree in Education from the Universidad San Francisco de Quito in Ecuador and a Master’s Degree in Bilingual Education from the University of St. Thomas. In her free time, she likes spending time with her family, nature, and traveling.
Mrs. Morton joined St. Cecilia Catholic School in 2020. Before that, she taught for six years in Catholic and public school education. Throughout the years, Mrs. Morton has taught PE, Pre-K 4, Kindergarten and was a Pre-K 3 Assistant. Mrs. Morton holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education from McNeese State University. She played Varsity Volleyball and Softball at St. Louis Catholic High School in Lake Charles, LA. She has four years of experience coaching girls’ softball within SBMSA ranging from 8U – 12U. Mrs. Morton has three children who all attend Catholic Schools, which include St. Thomas High School, St. Agnes Academy, and St. Cecilia.
Mrs. Nunez joined St. Cecilia Catholic School in 2004. She has been the school’s Head Counselor since that time. In addition to her role as Head Counselor, Mrs. Nunez is also the sponsor for the National Junior Honor Society, as well as the sponsor for Student Council. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from the University of Notre Dame, and a Masters Degree from the University of Texas at Austin. Rachel is a native Houstonian, and the mother of three girls who attend St. Cecilia Catholic School. She is a product of Catholic education from Kindergarten through college, and feels blessed to be part of such a caring community.
Mrs. Olson joined St. Cecilia Catholic School in 2009 as a Pre-K and Religion teacher. After taking some time to raise her young children, Mrs. Olson returned to the St. Cecilia faculty in 2021. She has over ten years of experience in teaching and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in English Literature from Loyola University of Chicago. Maggie is passionate about the Catholic faith and enjoys integrating it wherever possible. She and her husband, Eric, have been married since 2011 and have four children. When not teaching, Maggie enjoys exploring other cultures through travel and food.
Mrs. Orlando joined St. Cecilia Catholic School in 2015. Prior to that, Mrs. Orlando had 11 years in teaching experience. Mrs. Orlando is new to the role of Digital Learning Coach for St. Cecilia in 2019. She also assists with Campus Ministry, and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Arts from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Cindy is a Cajun girl from Scott, Louisiana and has a passion for continuously seeking innovative and effective learning strategies for students.
