Mrs. Sonnier joined St. Cecilia Catholic School in 2014. Prior to that Mrs. Sonnier had thirty years of experience in education. In addition to teaching, Mrs. Sonnier is also the Religion Coordinator for St. Cecilia, as well as being a member of the Campus Ministry leadership team. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Science from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Sue has been involved in Youth Ministry for over 30 years both in her Church Parish as well as the schools she has taught.
Mr. Sparks joined St. Cecilia Catholic School in 1999. Prior to that Mr. Sparks had three years of experience in education. Over the last 25 years, he has taught and coached a variety of sports and in addition to his current role as a Physical Education & Social Studies teacher, he coordinates the annual 8th Grade trip to Washington DC. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in History from Tulane University and one of Tom’s goals is to see all of the National parks with his family. He is also very proud to have two sons attend St. Cecilia this year in PK4 and 2nd grade.
Mrs. Stephan joined the St. Cecilia Catholic School staff in 2022. She comes to St. Cecilia with six years of experience in education. She has a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Florida in Education with Honors and a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Florida. Olivia has two children – Augustine, who attends St. Cecilia (class of 2033), and Lucy who is two. In her free time, she likes spending time with family and friends and enjoys baking breads.
Mrs. Thompson joined St. Cecilia Catholic School in 2011. Prior to joining St. Cecilia, Mrs. Thompson had five years of teaching experience. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in both English and Psychology from Southwest Texas State University, and a Master’s Degree in English from National University. Outside of teaching, Jolie loves to read, travel, spend time with her family (2 girls).
Patrice Tucker joined the St. Cecilia Catholic School faculty in 2021. She has thirty-two years of teaching experience in grades ranging from preschool to eighth grade and graduated from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio. Patrice enjoys traveling, cooking, spending time with her family and friends, and attending Jazz Fest in New Orleans.
Mrs. Valenzuela joined St. Cecilia Catholic School in 2020. She comes to St. Cecilia with over ten years of education experience and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in International Business from Universidad Kino as well as an Early Childhood Teaching Degree from the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA). Outside of work, Carmen is a wife and mother to three amazing kids. Her children attended St. Cecilia Catholic School. She loves spending time with her family and friends, is a big animal lover, enjoys cooking, and loves to travel. She is so happy to be a part of the St. Cecilia community after attending Catholic schools for her whole life.
Mrs. Verm joined St. Cecilia Catholic School in 2017. Prior to joining St. Cecilia, she had three years of teaching experience. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Kentucky, and a Master’s Degree in Education from the University of St. Thomas. Jessie is originally from Kentucky, and she and her husband have an adorable dog named Springer who makes them laugh every day. She loves teaching and inspiring students to become the best version of themselves.
Sr. Cecilia joined St. Cecilia Catholic School in 2020. She is a Dominican Sister from Mary Immaculate Province and has seven years of experience in education. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Arts and Sciences from Lamar University. Sr. Cecilia likes to use the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program and method to teach young children and help them grow in their faith. She loves to read about the lives of the saints.
