Mrs. Sonnier joined St. Cecilia Catholic School in 2014. Prior to that Mrs. Sonnier had thirty years of experience in education. In addition to teaching, Mrs. Sonnier is also the Religion Coordinator for St. Cecilia, as well as being a member of the Campus Ministry leadership team. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Science from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Sue has been involved in Youth Ministry for over 30 years both in her Church Parish as well as the schools she has taught.
Mr. Sparks joined St. Cecilia Catholic School in 1999. Prior to that Mr. Sparks had three years of experience in education. In addition to his role as a Physical Education & Social Studies teacher, he coordinates the annual 8th Grade trip to Washington DC. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in History from Tulane University. One of Tom’s goals is to see all of the national parks…..I have been to 3 thus far but I have high hopes for the coming summers as my sons (1 and 4 y/o) get older.
Mrs. Thompson joined St. Cecilia Catholic School in 2011. Prior to joining St. Cecilia, Mrs. Thompson had five years of teaching experience. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in both English and Psychology from Southwest Texas State University, and a Master’s Degree in English from National University. Outside of teaching, Jolie loves to read, travel, spend time with her family (2 girls).
Ms. Trombley joined the staff of St. Cecilia Catholic School in 2021. She comes to St. Cecilia with five years of experience in library systems – working with ages from infancy to 18. She holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Criminal Justice from University of North Texas, and a Masters of Library Sciences focus Youth Librarianship from Sam Houston State University. She has designed and created multiple programs to engage kids of all levels in hope to feed a love of learning and reading, no matter where they may be at on that journey. In addition, she has revamped many collections for Middle Schoolers, as well as Children’s Picture books to make them more friendly and accessible for the youth. Having worked with parents in the past to grow a love of reading with their child I am excited to providing new opportunities for both the parents and their children to assist in that endeavor. “I have a passion for working with youth of all ages to encourage a love of reading that expands beyond school, and allow for self-improvement and empowerment. I have been blessed with a wonderful opportunity to work here at St. Cecilia, and looking forward to making a positive impact with the children, parents, and the staff.”
Mrs. Valenzuela joined St. Cecilia Catholic School in 2020. She comes to St. Cecilia with ten years of education experience and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in International Business from Universidad Kino, and an Early Childhood Teaching Degree from the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA). She is also currently in training to get her Texas Teacher Certification EC-6 Bilingual through Region 4. An active member in the school community since 2011, she has volunteered at school as Room Parent and HSA Appreciation Team. Carmen and her husband Jorge have three children, Jorge (Loyola University of Chicago class 2020) Nick (St. Cecilia class 2014 and now a Junior at Texas Tech University) and Paloma currently a St. Cecilia 8th grade student. Both boys attended Strake Jesuit (classes of 2016 and 2018 respectively). Carmen is looking forward to working in Kindergarten at St. Cecilia.
Gabriella joined the staff of St. Cecilia Catholic School in 2021. She comes to St. Cecilia with 4 years of experience in education. She holds a Bachelor’s in Health and Human Services and Business Administration from Baylor University. She has most recently taught high school for 3 years and attended Duchesne Academy of The Sacred Heart for middle school and high school. “I regularly attend mass at St. Cecilia and completed my Lifeteen here as well!
Mrs. Verm joined St. Cecilia Catholic School in 2017. Prior to joining St. Cecilia, she had three years of teaching experience. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Kentucky, and a Master’s Degree in Education from the University of St. Thomas. Jessie is originally from Kentucky, and she and her husband have an adorable dog named Springer who makes them laugh every day. She loves teaching and inspiring students to become the best version of themselves.
Sr. Cecilia joined St. Cecilia Catholic School in 2020. She is a Dominican Sister from Mary Immaculate Province and has seven years of experience in education. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Arts and Sciences from Lamar University. Sr. Cecilia likes to use the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program and method to teach young children and help them grow in their faith. She loves to read about the lives of the saints.
Mrs. Willrich joined St. Cecilia Catholic School in 2010. Prior to joining St. Cecilia, she had two years of teaching experience. After being in the classroom teaching third grade from 2010 – 2017, in 2018 she joined the Community Engagement Office as the Associate Director of Advancement. She holds a Bachelor’s in Education from Fransiscan University. This is Lindsay’s 10th year at St. Cecilia Catholic School and she is thrilled to have her oldest child join the PK3 program this year.
