St. Cecilia Catholic School Named A 2022 National Blue Ribbon School
St. Cecilia Catholic School is honored to announce that, for the first time in the school’s history, the United States Department of Education has recognized St. Cecilia Catholic School as a 2022 National Blue Ribbon School. Since 1982, the U.S. Department of Education National Blue Ribbon Schools program recognizes a select group of schools annually as Exemplary High-Performing Schools.
Private schools are nominated for the National Blue Ribbon Schools Award by the Council for American Private Education (CAPE) based on the criterion that the school is in the top 15% of schools in the nation in reading and mathematics.
St. Cecilia Catholic School has been identified as an Exemplary High-Performing School by achieving reading and mathematics scores in the top 15% of schools nationwide for 3rd through 8th grades.
The National Blue Ribbon School recognition affirms and validates the hard work of students, educators, families, and communities in striving for – and attaining – exemplary achievement. National Blue Ribbon Schools serve as models of effective school practices for state and district educators and other schools throughout the nation. A National Blue Ribbon School sign is a widely recognized symbol of exemplary teaching and learning.

This distinguished recognition was made possible by the hard work and commitment of our students, our faculty and staff, our parent community, and with the support of our Pastor, Fr. Francis Macatangay, and the greater St. Cecilia Catholic Community,” says Jeff Matthews, Principal of St. Cecilia.

Blue Ribbon Schools have gone above and beyond to keep students healthy and safe while meeting their academic, social, emotional, and mental health needs. These schools show what is possible to make an enduring, positive difference in students’ lives.”
Out of the 297 schools selected this year St. Cecilia Catholic School is:
• One of 31 schools in Texas selected
• One of 24 private schools in the nation selected
• One of 19 high performing schools in Texas selected
• One of 3 Catholic Schools in the Galveston-Houston Archdiocese selected
