Faith & Service

Faith

All of our students are invited to participate in the life of the Roman Catholic Church throughout the school year at St. Cecilia Catholic School. Providing for the spiritual formation of our students is part of our core mission and we are proud to provide a strong grounding in our faith that students will carry with them for their lifetime. We celebrate as a school community at weekly Mass, participate in the Sacrament of Reconciliation, and work together through our Giving of Ourselves program to engage in social-justice work for the greater community. All grade levels participate age-appropriate religious coursework building a strong foundation for their faith and future.

Service

St. Cecilia Catholic School embraces a faith-in-action program that utilizes the Christian Service Learning (CSL) methodology through the Giving of Ourselves (GO) Program. CSL connects and integrates course curriculum where students not only learn concepts, contents and skills within the classroom; they also work directly with those in need or indirectly for social change. The GO Program is intended to be meaningful and apply critical thinking and problem solving skills to real-world issues. Each year, and throughout all 11 grade levels, one academic class is designed for students where they integrate a CSL project activity into current coursework that enriches the curriculum. GO grade-level service learning projects are age appropriate and sequential, and develop and nurture a deep understanding of and involvement in Works of Mercy over the years at St. Cecilia Catholic School.
