This committee compiles the annual St. Cecilia School directory, which is provided to all SCCS families early in the school year.
This committee helps those SCCS families that are celebrating a birth or are in need of help due to an illness, accident, or death. If you know of a family needing assistance, please notify a committee member so that they can contact the family. Cards, words of encouragement, and meals are some of the ways this committee shows that the SCCS community cares for them.
The emphasis of this committee is to nurture spirituality in the homes of our students. This committee provides resources for family use during Advent and Lent, contributes to the weekly newsletter, decorates a school bulletin board following the seasons of the Church, creates boards for First Communion and Catholic Schools Week, and sets up the nativity scene for Advent. The committee also sponsors special activities like the Living Rosary, Saint Contest, and TV turn-off week.
This committee helps the school actively participate with the St. Cecilia Church community. The committee coordinates the sponsorship of the Country Store booth at the church’s Oktoberfest on the first Sunday in October. This committee also organizes the Catholic Schools Week Donut Sunday in January, hosts a dinner for St. Cecilia’s Life Teen, and purchases a birthday gift for our pastor.
This committee researches, plans and organizes cultural enrichment from a different country each year for our students. Many non-committee volunteers are needed.
This committee consists of a coordinator for each grade- 3rd, 4th & 5th- that participate in science enrichment. The coordinators provide leadership for the hands-on, self-discovery science programs that are offered. Coordinators recruit parent volunteers from each grade to assist in the classroom on the days that science enrichment is provided.
This committee helps to fill needs at the school with parent, grandparent, or parishioner volunteers. Volunteer opportunities include helping in the workroom to make copies for the teachers, and assisting in the computer lab or library.
Room Parent Volunteer Coordinators
These coordinators organize the room parent sign-up at the Back-To-School Coffee and select the room parents for each homeroom class. These coordinators hold an orientation session for the new room parents where handbooks, which they have created, are distributed and responsibilities are explained. This committee also coordinates the voluntary Christmas and End-of-Year Gift for our teachers and staff.
Carpool Volunteer Coordinators
This committee assists school administration by collecting all carpool information from SCCS families, assigning carpool numbers/names to all families, printing and distributing the carpool number/name hangtags for our cars and backpack tags.
8th Grade Volunteer Coordinators
These 8th grade parent coordinators plan, schedule and organize all of the many activities that make the 8th grade year at SCCS so special. This committee coordinates with the 8th grade room parents for these 8th grade functions.
WAYS & MEANS
Football Concession Stand
This committee coordinates and runs the concession stand during our SCCS football season.
Field Day is a lot of fun for SCCS students and is HSA’s biggest fundraiser of the year. This very important committee plans and organizes this event, which takes place on the last Friday of April each year and which is full of field games, food and fun for all students.
This committee coordinates the purchase of pre-packaged school supplies for all students. This committee also sells items with the St. Cecilia logo such as pencil bags, spirit shirts, and gym bags. These items are for sale at the time of the Used Uniform Sales as well as throughout the year in the school office.
Community Rebate Programs
This coordinator makes applications for various community programs such as the Good Neighbor Program at Randall’s and the Neighbor To Neighbor Program at Kroger. The committee then disseminates the information on how to participate in the various programs to school families.
This committee organizes and staffs the collection and re-sale of used SCCS uniforms at the Used Uniform Sales held at the beginning of school and in January.
Back-To-School Coffee and HSA End-of-Year Luncheon
A Back-To-School Coffee coffee is scheduled on the first day of school for all parents where we seek to staff all of the various HSA committees for the coming year. There are also sign-up lists for many other volunteer opportunities. This committee plans the HSA End-of-Year Luncheon in May for all current and incoming HSA Committee Members.
This committee hosts a Breakfast with Buddies event before the start of school to welcome new students to the SCCS family. Each new family entering SCCS is paired with a “buddy family” to help make the transition to SCCS a smooth one.
This committee coordinates the information breakfasts for parents that are held after the start of school for each grade. At these gatherings, information specific to each grade is discussed and parents are asked to sign-up for grade level and other volunteer needs.
This committee plans and executes luncheons and special treats for our teachers and staff. Parents are asked to contribute food, make a monetary contribution or help work at the various events.
This committee coordinates babysitting with the parish nursery for parents and parent volunteers during special functions that take place during school hours.
School Receptions & HSA Meetings
This committee organizes the Back-to-School Mass and Reception, a reception for grandparents, and refreshments for volunteers giving tours during Catholic Schools Week. This committee also provides refreshments for the monthly HSA meetings.
