STREAM Integration – Technology

One of our pillars of improvement at St. Cecilia Catholic School is STREAM integration. Catholic schools expand STEM through the infusion of religion across all subjects and the inclusion of the arts. The result is STREAM – Science, Technology, Religion, Engineering, The Arts, and Mathematics. STREAM is a framework of instruction that enhances our commitment to delivering a rigorous and engaging academic program that celebrates, develops, and aspires to meet the needs of our learners.

STREAM compliments the long-standing tradition in Catholic schools of educating the whole child from pre-kindergarten through high school. It develops a student’s appreciation of God as our creator and teacher in every area of learning. STREAM raises the bar so that our schools maintain their competitive edge. STREAM provides opportunities for Catholic schools to engage students in problem-solving, critical thinking, creativity, and technological skills.

Schools in the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston can become part of STREAM SYNERGY, where STREAM activities can be offered as a club, as a special program operating before or after school, or as part of the school’s instructional program. Our school is recognized as a S.T.R.E.A.M. Synergy School by the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston due to our STREAM Integration Class offered to all students.

Technology
A major component of STREAM is technology. At St. Cecilia Catholic School, we want students to utilize technology as an essential tool in their learning process to be able to:

  • Act morally and responsibly following the teachings of our Catholic faith
  • Create and consume digital information thoughtfully and intelligently
  • Communicate thoughts and ideas using a variety of digital media
  • Innovate and think globally to solve problems

Embedded within our beliefs of teaching and learning with technology are four core principles based on the scripture from Matthew 7:12; “So always treat others as you would have them treat you; that is the Law and the Prophets.”

  • Focus on Learning
  • Respect Yourself
  • Respect Others
  • Respect Property
